The truth of believers is being heirs through Christ. This concept is of great significance, located throughout Scripture. Through Jesus' redemptive act on the cross, believers have become part of a royal lineage, sharing in Christ's inheritance and being heirs of God. This inheritance is made possible through Christ's work.
Romans 8:17 states that believers are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, placing them in the same standing as Jesus. Believers are adopted into God's family and granted access to His kingdom and blessings. As adopted children of God, we receive the same love and inheritance as Jesus, securing an unbreakable relationship with the Father.
Galatians 3:29 states that if we belong to Christ, we are considered Abraham's seed and inherit the promises made to him. This means that believers are part of Abraham's family tree, receiving the promises of multiplication, favor, and territorial expansion. Paul emphasizes that this spiritual inheritance is available to all who accept Christ, regardless of their background or status.
1 Peter 2:9 elevates this understanding by portraying believers as chosen people and a royal priesthood called to proclaim God's excellence. Through Jesus' life, death, and resurrection, believers are reconciled to God and given dignity and purpose. As part of this royal priesthood, believers are called to partner with and worship the King of Kings and reflect His glory to the world.
Believers are referred to as Christ's ambassadors in 2 Corinthians 5:20, suggesting a calling to represent the kingdom of God on earth. This means exercising the authority granted through Jesus and using it to steward the gospel's mysteries and riches for the world's betterment.
Ephesians 1:18-19 assures believers of the richness and glory of their inheritance, which includes immeasurable greatness and power. The power that raised Christ from the dead is at work within believers, offering hope and strength in the face of trials. This reminds us that victory is already secured, and we have spiritual blessings to claim.
The resurrection solidifies this royal inheritance, as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 15:22. Just as all die in Adam, all will be made alive in Christ. This new life in Christ marks the beginning of our inheritance, representing a transformation from the grip of death to freedom and an eternal legacy in Christ.
